You Are What You Digest

Good digestion is where it's at! It doesn't matter what good elixir, smoothie, adaptogenic powder, or salad we're putting into our bodies if we're not digesting it!


The key is that many brands and people already understand this, but instead of prompting and teaching us to use our own body's abilities, they sell us additional items that we believe to be crucial for our body to do what it's already designed to do!


Your body knows the way - so here are 7 tips to create better digestion without spending a dime.


1. Chew better - take your time, the food isn't going anywhere. 32 chews per bite is considered the golden standard.


2. Eat without distractions - put your phone down and focus on what you’re eating; eat mindfully


3. Take 3 breaths before eating - this slows down your nervous system so all your energy can go towards digesting


4. limit the amount of water you're consuming during your meal - this helps to avoid diluting your stomach acid


5. Allow for longer times between meals - this allows for improved motility aka an internal cleaning of the gut


6. Simplify your meals - there is huge power in monomeals!! Instead of packing in as many ingredients as you can every meal, simplify by eating a larger quantity of 1-4 ingredients. Some examples: a big bowl of just sweet potato, coconut oil, & salt OR a big salad with just cucumber, tomato, salt, & olive oil. Your tummy will feel completely refreshed

7. Practice gratitude - bless your food, savor it - after all, it went a long way to get to you. Your food will nurture you when it feels that you are grateful. Putting your mind towards it helps your body to simplify & focus. Plus gratitude always helps.
